The U.S. IDEA Program Advances, and CCEM’s Collaboration with Black & Veatch Progresses from the Scoping Stage to the Full ESIA Package
Following the transfer of financial support for the IDEA Program from USAID to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), CCEM’s collaboration with Black & Veatch is progressing steadily.
Our team, coordinated by Dr. Claudia Tomescu, is moving from the initial scoping stage to the preparation of the full ESIA package (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) for the planned 400 kV Strășeni–Guținaș transmission line.
This transmission line is designated as a strategic national public-interest project, essential for strengthening Moldova’s energy security, increasing electricity transmission capacity, and enabling future interconnection with the European electricity network. The project—estimated at approximately 190 km—is fully financed through a 130-million-USD grant provided by the U.S. Government, reaffirming long-standing American support for Moldova’s energy diversification and resilience.
CCEM looks forward to continuing joint activities in 2026, contributing to enhancing regional energy connectivity
